2010 Easter Egg Hunt
April 12, 2010
On Easter Sunday the rain came down so hard, the Lions were forced to reschedule the 63rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Anton Stadium for the following Sunday, April 11. Unfortunately, the rain continued and left the fields soaked for the second week in a row. Making the best of a soggy day, Lions and the Easter Bunny handed out chocolcate bunnies to kids who braved the weather. The surplus eggs were delivered to plowshares.
Pancakes and Baseball Opening Day

South Ukiah Little League celebrated Opening Day of the 2010 Baseball Season this morning with opening ceremonies and a parade of all of the teams. The Lions were in attendance to host a pancake breakfast for all of the parents and kids. Hundreds of families were there bright and early to usher in the new season and watch the games that were played througout the day.

Ukiah Valley Christmas Effort Fundraiser

The Club gathered for our annual Christmas fundraiser on Thursday night. In addition to an enjoyable dinner and evening, the Lions raised and donated over $2,000 to the Ukiah Valley Christmas Effort.
Poker Tournament A Success!

The Lions sponsored a poker tournament last night with 100% of the proceeds going to the Anton Stadium project. The tables were lively and the club was able to donate well over $5,000 to Anton Stadium's rebuild.
Fall Activities On The Calendar

With the annual football concessions season nearing its end, the club has several additions to the calendar. First, coming up on November 14 is the Texas Hold 'Em Tournament down at the Ukiah Civic Center. Tickets are $125 and include a tri-tip dinner and a beverage. There are many prizes, including a week's stay in Tahoe! All proceeds benefit the rebuilding of Anton Stadium.
And Lions mark your calendars for the annual Christmas Dinner and Fundraiser. Always a fun time, the dinner is scheduled for Thursday December 10th, the cost is $30 per person and donations will be sought for the Ukiah Valley Christmas Effort. Hope to see you there!

Pancake Breakfast Time

The Ukiah Lions Club held its annual pancake breakfast on Saturday morning. There was a steady stream of hungry car enthusiasts keeping the guys busy mixing batter, cooking sausage, flipping pancakes and pouring coffee and juice. We nearly ran out of pancake mix! Another Frantic Fall Arrives

The Club has already shifted into high gear for the Fall. In August we held our annual Stag Feed, a thank you to the club members and the youth football coaches for another year of service to the community. August also brought us full-swing into concessions season with two youth football games already under our belt. September adds Ukiah High School Football on Friday nights into the mix as well.
In addition, we're gearing up for our annual Pancake Breakfast at the 2009 Fabulous Flashback Car Show on September 19th. Prices are very reasonable at $5 for an adult and $4 for kids. We're serving pancakes, sausage and milk, juice or coffee. Stop by, support the Lions and have a look at some beautiful classic cars, courtesy of the Ukiah Early Iron Car Club and their guests.
Also, Ukiah Host recently brought two new Lions into the club. Local business owner Bryan Bowers joined the Lions on July 30th and Larry Claunch was inducted at our August 27th luncheon meeting. Welcome to the club gentlemen.
Finally, Ukiah Lions continue to play key roles in the Anton Stadium rebuild project. The fields were in great shape for the recent Babe Ruth competition. Now attention focuses on building the grandstands. If you want to see what's going on, check the Anton Stadium website.

Ukiah was the site for the Babe Ruth League Pacific Southwest Region Tournament for 14-15 year olds. The Ukiah Host Lions Club helped by preparing the welcome dinner for the teams and their parents and coaches. There's a page with a few pictures and more about the weekend's events.

Pancake Feed for South Ukiah Little League
April 4, 2009
The Lions served a pancake breakfast at the South Ukiah Little League fields to support the players, coaches and parents, and to help usher in opening day of the baseball season.
The Club rolled in the trailer with the rotary grills before sunrise to make preparations for the job ahead. When all was said and done, the guys served hundreds of families and started the days events with warm pancakes on a very frosty morning.

Lions Celebrate With Christmas Fundraiser

The Lions Club gathered at the Ukiah Garden Cafe on December 11 for its Annual Christmas Dinner and Fundraiser for the Ukiah Valley Christmas Effort. After a brief cocktail hour, the group enjoyed dinner and local wines, and joined together singing Christmas Carols. In addition, the evening brought donations for the Christmas Effort totalling over $2,000.
Concession Season Comes To A Close

Club Continues To Expand Rolls

Ukiah Host welcomed two more Lions this Fall. At the Luncheon Meeting on November 13th Lion Beau Johnson sponsored both Don McMullen and Grady Huff as they were sworn into the Lions.

Lion Frassinello Crosses The Country
Past President Bob Frassinello was absent from our Annual Stag Feed in August '08. But he had an excellent excuse! At the time, he was on a cross-country bike trek (Yes, coast-to-coast across the United States!) with friends Don Stipp and Mac Ford. Mac created a page of photos from the trip and posted them here.

Ukiah Host held it's Stag Feed at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds. The annual event is not only a "Thank You" from the Club to the members for their effort and support throughout the year, but also an opportunity to thank all of the coaches involved in the Ukiah Lions Youth Football League for their long hours and dedication to our local youth. In all, over 60 Lions and Coaches enjoyed the evening.
The meal featured steaks from the Forks Ranch Market cooked by Lions Chan, Ben and crew, chili prepared by the Mirata Brothers, garlic bread, salad and of course a healthy selection of refreshing beverages. Lion President Bob really outdid himself in orchestrating a great Stag for the club.

Two New Lions Sworn In

At the May 8 Luncheon, Ukiah Host installed two new Lions into the Club: Brady Wildberger, sponsored by Beau Johnson, and Guy Mills, sponsored by Bob Frassinello. Brady and Guy join Rod Grainger, Effie Fuentes and Jitu Ishwar as the Club's most recent "Cub Lions" installed in 2007-08.

2008 Easter Egg Hunt

The Club recently sponsored it's 61st Annual Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt on March 23. Hundreds of families were in attendance as the kids participated in the massive hunt across Anton Stadium, Lions Field and Giorno Park. Details and pictures from the event are now available, here.
