2009 Pancake Breakfast

Every September the local car club "Early Iron of Ukiah" hosts the "Fabulous Flashbacks Car Show". During the morning, the Lions prepare a pancake breakfast for participants and attendees. The club has been hosting Fall pancake breakfasts for many decades, including band reviews in the 1970's and 80's.

In the picture on the right, the pre-dawn sun is hitting the bottom of the clouds as the setup crew gets ready for the morning ahead.

The club begins preparing weeks ahead of time, but the work starts on Friday, the day before the breakfast. The crew picks up supplies, gathers the rotary grills and the Lion trailer, and picks up the tables. Whew!

First-thing Saturday morning the club does the final prep, gets everything connected and fires up the grills. Lion Bob and Lion Jason are working the grill and preparing to serve the next batch of pancakes on the left.

On the right, Lions Gary, Jim and Bill are taking a break while Lions Rich and Larry tend to the sausage grill. In addition to pancakes and sausage, the club served piping hot coffee available at the Lion trailer, and also juice or milk.

We saw a steady flow of hungry folks throughout the morning. Everyone seemed to enjoy the breakfast and the club had fun hosting the event.
